David Cabrera has practiced and taught meditation since 2007. He co-founded a BIPOC Sangha at One Dharma Nashville and mentors at Banyan, training new mindfulness mentors. He also leads retreats at Spirit Rock and specializes in somatic healing and martial arts like Taiji. Beyond this, David is a Grammy-winning musician and a devoted father.

How should I prepare for the retreat?

Find a quiet, comfortable space where you can fully settle in. Have a chair or cushion ready for meditations and a mat for Qigong or movement practices. Bring water to stay hydrated and a journal to reflect. A blanket might come in handy for extra comfort. Check your internet connection, gather any other items you need, and prepare for a peaceful experience.
Note: For full-day attendees, please have a candle and match ready for the closing practice.

Do I need prior experience in meditation or Qigong?

No prior experience is necessary. Our retreat is designed for both beginners and experienced practitioners. Our instructors will provide guidance suited to all levels.

What is the schedule for the retreat?

The retreat begins at 8:00 AM PT and includes various sessions such as guided meditations, Qigong, walking meditation, and group discussions. Please refer to the detailed schedule on this page for more information.

How do I join the retreat online?

After you register, you will receive an email with a link to join the retreat via Zoom. Make sure to download Zoom on your device beforehand for a smooth experience.

Will a recording of the retreat be made available after the event?

No. Our retreats are intended to be fully experienced in the moment. While we do record sessions for internal purposes to help improve our programming, these recordings are not made available for public consumption.

What if I need to take a break during the retreat?

Feel free to take breaks as needed. The retreat schedule includes several breaks to help you stay refreshed and engaged throughout the day.

What if I have technical issues during the retreat?

Technical support will be available throughout the retreat to assist with any issues. Your registration email will include contact information for support.

Can I interact with the instructors and other participants?

Yes, our retreat includes breakout sessions and Q&A periods where you can interact with the instructors and other participants, fostering a sense of community.

Is there a dress code for the retreat?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely during the somatic practices and meditation sessions.

What time zone is the retreat schedule based on?

The retreat schedule is based on Pacific Time (PT). Please adjust for your local time zone to ensure you join the sessions on time.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that circumstances may change, and you may need to cancel your registration for the course. Please review our refund and cancellation policy below:
  • Full Refund: For cancellations made on or before September 19, 2024, you will receive a full refund of the amount paid for the retreat.
  • 50% Refund: For cancellations made between September 20, 2024, and October 12, 2024, you will receive a 50% refund of the amount paid.
  • No Refund: No refund will be provided for cancellations made on or after October 12, 2024.
  • Transfer of Registration: If you cannot attend, you may transfer your registration to a future retreat within six months, provided you notify us by October 12, 2024.
